Speech by Advocate Adil Qazi
Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great honour to be here today to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan in this Year of Peace and Trust. I extend my warm congratulations to the Government and the people of Turkmenistan on this remarkable milestone.
For the past thirty years, Turkmenistan has followed a policy of peace, dialogue, and neutrality. This policy has earned the respect of the international community and contributed to stability and cooperation in the region. In a world often divided by conflict and competition, Turkmenistan’s example shows that true strength lies in trust and peaceful engagement.
As a Member of the Islamabad Bar Council, and through my work with the International Dispute Resolution Institute (IDRI), I have seen how dialogue and neutrality are essential to resolving disputes and building lasting peace. The principles that guide mediation and arbitration—fairness, respect, and understanding are the same principles that Turkmenistan has demonstrated in its foreign policy for three decades.
The spirit of neutrality is also reflected in international cooperation projects such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which promotes connection and shared prosperity. Both initiatives show how nations can work together for common progress through trust and mutual respect.
Pakistan and Turkmenistan share a warm and friendly relationship, strengthened by initiatives like TAPI, which bring our countries closer through economic and cultural cooperation.
As we mark this special anniversary, we are reminded that neutrality is not a sign of weakness it is a sign of wisdom and commitment to peace. I once again congratulate Turkmenistan and wish its people continued prosperity, harmony, and success.
Thank you.
