Speech by Barrister Zopash Khan

Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

It is a great honour to be here today to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan in this Year of Peace and Trust. I extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Turkmenistan on this historic occasion.

Thirty years of neutrality reflect Turkmenistan’s wisdom, balance, and dedication to peace. In a world often marked by conflict and competition, Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality has become a symbol of trust and constructive diplomacy—one that continues to promote regional stability and international cooperation.

As a Barrister and mediator, and as part of the Society of Research and Legal Studies (SRLS) based in Islamabad, I deeply value these principles. SRLS works to promote dialogue, legal research, and peaceful resolution of disputes values that align closely with Turkmenistan’s neutral and cooperative approach to global affairs.

Recently, SRLS has also written and published a book on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its impact on business and investment in Pakistan. The spirit of BRI—connecting nations through trade, law, and mutual understanding—echoes the same ideals of neutrality and peace that Turkmenistan has upheld for three decades.

Pakistan and Turkmenistan enjoy longstanding and friendly relations. Our collaboration in initiatives such as TAPI reflects a shared vision for regional development, connectivity, and sustainable growth.

As we celebrate this important milestone, we are reminded that neutrality is not about remaining silent it is about choosing peace, dialogue, and trust. I once again congratulate Turkmenistan on this remarkable journey and wish continued peace, prosperity, and progress in the years ahead.

Thank you.
