Ashgabat, December 30, 2023, The Europe Today: In Turkmenistan, the year 2024 has been officially designated as “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi,” as reported by Turkmen media. The corresponding resolution, endorsed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the recent joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, underscores the nation’s commitment to commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the eminent thinker and classical poet of the East, Magtymguly Fragi. The resolution mandates comprehensive efforts, both domestically and internationally, to explore and promote the profound and invaluable literary legacy of this distinguished wordsmith. Magtymguly Fragi’s works are recognized as a treasury of spiritual culture, contributing significantly to the global heritage, and are revered as a national educational foundation fostering elevated morality, humanism, and patriotic sentiments among the populace.
In consideration of the aforementioned factors, and inspired by the desire to align the theme of 2024 with the esteemed name of Magtymguly Pyragy and his poem “Pähim-paýhas ummany Magtymguly Pyragy,” crafted through the brilliant talent and wisdom of Hero-Arkadag, the Mejlis has formulated a Resolution. This resolution, prepared in response to the recommendations of members of the Halk Maslakhaty, representatives from public organizations, labor collectives, and citizens, officially declares 2024 as the year of “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.” Announcing this decision during a Government meeting, Chairman of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, emphasized the significance of connecting the year’s motto with Magtymguly Pyragy’s profound legacy. It is noteworthy that Turkmenistan has a tradition, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, of commemorating each year with a specific motto to honor pivotal events.
