Israel appointments new foreign minister

Tel Aviv, December 31, 2023, The Europe Today: The Israeli government, in an official statement on Sunday, has sanctioned the appointment of a new foreign minister to succeed Eli Cohen, who is set to assume the role of energy minister in a predetermined ministerial rotation.

These appointments are contingent upon approval by the Israeli parliament. Eli Cohen will retain his position as a member of the security cabinet, while Yisrael Katz is slated to assume the responsibilities of the foreign affairs minister. Notably, these developments unfold against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which has entered its 86th day, initiated by a Hamas attack on October 7 resulting in casualties and hostage situations.
