New Year’s Eve Chaos: Dutch Police Detain Over 200 Amid Widespread Riots

Amsterdam, January 01, 2024, The Europe Today: Dutch police reported on Monday that over 200 individuals were arrested on New Year’s Eve in the midst of widespread riots across the country, during which numerous police officers sustained injuries.

Law enforcement personnel in several cities faced attacks involving fireworks and stones, marking a night characterized by serious incidents and deemed as involving “unacceptable” levels of violence, according to a police spokesman speaking to broadcaster NOS.

In Rotterdam, more than 100 cars and various vehicles were set ablaze, while in Amsterdam, The Hague, and additional cities, riot squads were deployed to disperse violent crowds, underscoring the scale and severity of the disturbances.
