Gansu Surpasses 50 Gigawatts: New Energy Power Capacity Achieves Milestone

Beijing, January 06, 2024, The Europe Today: As of the end of 2023, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy power generation in Gansu Province, located in northwest China, has surpassed 50 gigawatts, as reported by State Grid Gansu Electric Power Co., Ltd. Renowned for its abundant wind and solar energy resources, Gansu has been diligently advancing new energy development initiatives in recent years.

Impressively, the province’s newly installed new energy power capacity constitutes approximately 61 percent of its overall installed capacity, totaling 89.63 gigawatts—an unprecedented share. In 2023 alone, Gansu added 21.53 gigawatts of newly installed capacity, with over 90 percent of this expansion attributed to new energy sources, encompassing wind power, solar energy, and energy storage. This underscores Gansu’s commitment to a sustainable and diversified energy landscape.
