Jiangsu’s Agritourism Industry Achieves Record Revenue, Surpassing 100 Billion Yuan in 2023

Beijing, January 16, 2024, The Europe Today: The agritourism sector in east China’s Jiangsu Province achieved remarkable success in 2023, generating a record-breaking revenue of 107.78 billion yuan (approximately 15.15 billion U.S. dollars), marking an impressive 18.83 percent year-on-year increase. This milestone marks the first time the industry has crossed the 100-billion-yuan threshold, as reported by provincial agriculture authorities on Tuesday.

Jiangsu’s flourishing agritourism sector attracted 410 million visitors in 2023, reflecting a substantial year-on-year increase of 16.67 percent. The province’s commitment to promoting leisure agriculture as a catalyst for economic growth and consumption was highlighted in a circular issued by provincial authorities early in the year.

Throughout 2023, Jiangsu Province hosted over 1,300 agriculture-themed festivities, featuring diverse activities such as fruit-picking, peach blossom viewing, lotus festivals, and crab festivals. These events not only contributed to the thriving agritourism sector but also showcased the rich agricultural heritage and cultural diversity of the region.

The significant surge in revenue and visitor numbers underscores the success of Jiangsu’s strategy in leveraging agritourism as a driver of economic development. The positive growth trajectory reflects the increasing popularity of agriculture-themed experiences and the province’s commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable agritourism industry.
