Pakistan Strongly Condemns Unprovoked Attack on Its Airspace, Warns of Consequences

Islamabad, January 17, 2024, The Europe Today: In a stern response to what it termed an “unprovoked violation,” Pakistan has vehemently condemned the recent attack on its airspace by Tehran. The Foreign Office issued a late-night statement, characterizing the incident as a grave breach of sovereignty and declaring it completely unacceptable.

The strikes, purportedly targeting bases of the militant group Jaish al-Adl in the Panjgur district of Balochistan, resulted in the tragic loss of two innocent children and left three girls wounded, according to official reports from Tehran.

FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in a brief statement, stated, “This illegal act is completely unacceptable and has no justification whatsoever. Pakistan reserves the right to respond, and the responsibility for the consequences will lie squarely with Iran.”

Furthermore, Baloch announced the suspension of all high-level diplomatic exchanges with Tehran, emphasizing the gravity of the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. She revealed that the Iranian envoy to Pakistan, presently in Iran, would not be allowed to return to the country.

“We have conveyed this message to the government of Iran. We have also informed them that Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from Iran, and the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, currently visiting Iran, may not return for the time being,” added the spokesperson.

The situation remains tense as both nations grapple with the aftermath of this unfortunate incident, raising concerns about the future diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran.
