Azerbaijan and Denmark Discuss Environmental Cooperation and COP29 Preparations

Baku, January 29, 2024, The Europe Today: A delegation led by the non-resident ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Azerbaijan, Danny Annan, held discussions with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev. The meeting focused on various aspects of bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in November 2024.

The exchange of views encompassed the comprehensive preparations needed for the upcoming COP29 conference, where global discussions on climate change and environmental policies will be at the forefront. Both sides expressed their commitment to ensuring the success of the conference and fostering international collaboration on environmental issues.

In addition to COP29 preparations, the meeting delved into the prospects of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Denmark in the field of environmental protection. The discussions highlighted the shared interests of the two countries in addressing environmental challenges and exploring joint initiatives to promote sustainability.

It is worth noting that the meeting builds on the momentum of Azerbaijani-Danish relations, as evidenced by the previous exchange between Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, Zaur Ahmadov, and key representatives of the Danish Parliament. During that encounter, the parties explored the extensive potential for collaboration, emphasizing the importance of interparliamentary cooperation in fostering strong ties between the two nations.
