Beijing, March 20, 2024, The Europe Today: Zheng Wei, head coach of the China women’s basketball team, anticipates a demanding road ahead for her squad as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Following the draw held in Mies, Switzerland on Tuesday, it was revealed that China, the runner-up at the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup, will be pitted against formidable opponents including Serbia, Spain, and Puerto Rico in this summer’s Olympic basketball tournament.
The 12 participating teams have been divided into three groups, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
Coach Zheng, reflecting on the competitive landscape, emphasized the strength of every team participating in the Olympic Games, highlighting the narrow margin that separates them. She stressed the significance of on-court performances, recognizing that victory or defeat will be determined by the teams’ efforts.
