China’s Economic Momentum Signals Global Bright Spot, Says Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Beijing, April 03, 2024, The Europe Today: In a statement on Wednesday, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry highlighted the robust start of China’s economy this year as a beacon of hope for the global economy. Emphasizing China’s expanding openness to the world, the spokesperson underscored the vast opportunities that China’s mega-market presents to the global community.

The recent surge in China’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) and non-manufacturing PMI has garnered significant attention from international media. Observers interpret these figures as indicative of China’s economy finding new growth drivers.

Addressing inquiries on this topic during a routine news briefing, spokesperson Wang Wenbin noted that China’s manufacturing PMI, non-manufacturing PMI, and composite PMI for March have captured widespread international interest. The simultaneous elevation of these key indexes, all of which remain in the expansion zone, signifies the continued momentum of China’s economy. Wang highlighted that China’s economy is bolstered by strengthening internal drivers, improving public expectations, and making solid strides toward high-quality development.

Beyond PMI data, Wang pointed to positive indicators such as China’s imports and exports, power generation, passenger and cargo volume, and consumption during the Spring Festival, all reflecting signs of economic resurgence. These developments have raised global expectations for China’s economic performance in 2024.

Wang further underscored China’s openness to the world, citing recent initiatives by various Chinese departments aimed at expanding high-standard opening up. These initiatives span cross-border trade in services, cross-border data flows, and opening up in the financial sector.

Highlighting a series of international trade events including the Canton Fair, China International Import Expo, and other expos, Wang emphasized China’s expanding engagement with the global market. He stressed that China’s mega-market presents immense opportunities for international businesses.

In a clear message to global enterprises, Wang encouraged investment in China, assuring them of a conducive environment for growth and success.
