Ankara, August 18, 2024, The Europe Today: On August 17, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held a phone call to discuss mutual support amid ongoing wildfires in Türkiye, according to NHC reports.
During the conversation, President Erdogan expressed profound gratitude for Azerbaijan’s readiness to assist in combating the wildfires that have recently affected Türkiye. He highlighted the critical role of the BE-200CS amphibious aircraft in firefighting efforts and praised Azerbaijan’s decision to send this aircraft to Türkiye. Erdogan described this gesture as a testament to the strong brotherhood and strategic partnership between the two nations.
In response, President Aliyev confirmed that the BE-200CS amphibious aircraft would be dispatched to Türkiye in the near future and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to providing any additional support necessary to address the wildfire crisis.
