Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Celebrates 66th Anniversary with Community Events

Bandar Seri Begawan, September 29, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Brunei’s capital celebrated its 66th anniversary on Sunday with a series of recreational and religious activities. The event underscored the mosque’s role not only as a place of worship but as a hub for community engagement.

The mosque’s takmir committee and youth organized a walkathon, highlighting the mosque’s significance in fostering social, cultural, and spiritual activities within the Muslim community. Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Haji Lamat served as the guest of honour for the occasion.

Following the morning prayers, the mosque hosted a religious talk, where Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, Assistant Lecturer at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), delivered a speech titled “Glorifying the Mosque during the Time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).”

The anniversary celebration provided a meaningful opportunity for worshippers to reflect on the mosque’s history and its continuing importance in Bruneian society.
