Jakarta, September 29, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has expressed his appreciation for the significant development of the MotoGP event held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara over the past three years. His remarks came after witnessing the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.

“I have observed remarkable progress, especially in terms of event management and facilities over the last three years,” Jokowi stated in a written statement on Sunday.

The President was particularly pleased with the involvement of local workers in the event. He highlighted that the employment of 3,000 crew members, all from West Nusa Tenggara, was a testament to the empowerment of local talent.

“I am very happy that all the crew members are locals. This is a great way to support local workers,” Jokowi remarked.

Jokowi also underscored the need for continuous improvement. He called for regular evaluations to address any shortcomings and ensure the event’s quality is enhanced for future editions.

The President noted that Dorna Sports, the official organizer of MotoGP, was impressed with this year’s event, especially the integration of local culture in the opening ceremony, which included a performance of Indonesia’s national anthem and traditional dance.

“Dorna said this year’s event was different and very well-executed, especially with the inclusion of cultural elements,” Jokowi added.
