Turkmenistan Celebrates 33rd Independence Anniversary with Gala Reception in Belgium

Brussels, September 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium hosted a grand gala reception in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The event, held in Brussels, gathered a distinguished group of attendees, including ambassadors from over 20 nations, representatives of the diplomatic corps, European Union officials, members of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, business leaders, media, and cultural figures.

The evening began with a ceremonial welcome, featuring the national anthems of Turkmenistan, Belgium, and the European Union. Ambassador Sapar Palvanov, Turkmenistan’s representative to Belgium, delivered a keynote address, highlighting Turkmenistan’s achievements since gaining independence and the country’s deepening relations with both Belgium and the EU across various sectors.

Belgian Director General for Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Geron Coreman, also spoke, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Belgium and Turkmenistan.

A notable highlight of the evening was the screening of a music video by Belgian rap artist Tony, symbolizing cultural harmony between the two nations. The event also included a mini fashion show by Dutch brand Mengli Secrets, along with musical performances by renowned violinist Annette Homann and Turkmen artist Yazmyrat Garlyev.

The celebration concluded with guests enjoying traditional Turkmen cuisine, creating a lasting impression of cultural richness and unity.
