Uzbekistan Diplomatic Delegation Meets Italian Senator to Discuss Bilateral and EU Cooperation

Rome, October 16, 2024 – The Europe Today: Uzbekistan’s diplomats held a meeting with Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, a member of the Italian Senate and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Rome. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy, as well as strengthening ties with the European Union.

Senator Terzi emphasized the significance of deepening comprehensive relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union, noting that international policy issues hold great importance in Italy, as they do across the EU. He highlighted that 70-75 percent of legislative documents currently considered by the Italian Senate are related to EU matters.

Abat Fayzullayev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Italy, discussed opportunities for organizing bilateral and multilateral events. The conversation also touched on key business forums scheduled for 2024 and 2025, which are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing economic and political cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Italy, as well as fostering broader engagement with the European Union.
