Venom Meets Malaysian Tradition: Arif Rafhan’s Batik-Inspired Art Series

Kuala Lumpur, October 18, 2024 – The Europe Today: In an exciting collaboration with Sony Pictures Malaysia, renowned Malaysian artist Arif Rafhan, also known as Superdoofus, has fused Marvel’s iconic anti-hero Venom with the rich heritage of Malaysian batik in a unique series of movie posters. These stunning creations, titled The Venom x Batik Inspired Art Series, will debut across digital platforms and be featured in special in-cinema displays nationwide at GSC cinemas for the release of Venom: The Last Dance on October 24.

The art series blends Venom’s dark, edgy aesthetics, as portrayed by Tom Hardy, with the vibrant and intricate patterns of Malaysia’s traditional batik textiles. Arif, an artist deeply inspired by pop culture and sci-fi, explained the synergy between these two seemingly contrasting worlds. “Venom has such a striking visual identity, and blending that with batik, which is deeply personal to me and rooted in Malaysian heritage, felt like a natural fusion,” he shared.

This collaboration marks a celebration of both global pop culture and local artistry. Arif, known for his Star Wars batik art and other batik-inspired creations, added, “I wanted to create something that feels both familiar and refreshingly unique – a celebration of both worlds.”

Fans can look forward to seeing these captivating pieces of art as they become part of the Venom movie experience, bridging the global and local cultural landscapes through an innovative artistic vision.
