Dushanbe, October 25, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Tajik government has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on the headquarters of Turkish aerospace company TUSAŞ in Ankara, which resulted in multiple casualties.
In an official statement, the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sadness over the attack, which took place on October 23, and extended condolences to the victims’ families. “We received the news of the terrorist attack committed at the TUSAŞ plant in Ankara with a feeling of deep sadness. Tajikistan strongly condemns this terrorist attack, which resulted in the death and injury of civilians. We express our deep condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, and wish a speedy recovery to the victims,” the statement read.
The attack, carried out by three terrorists, involved the detonation of an explosive device near the TUSAŞ headquarters, followed by a shootout. The incident claimed the lives of five people and injured 22 others. Two of the attackers, a man and a woman, were also killed during the confrontation.
Turkish authorities suspect Kurdish separatists, specifically members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), of being behind the attack, according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. The PKK is a banned organization in Turkey, known for its long-standing insurgency.
Tajikistan reiterated its commitment to combatting terrorism and supporting international efforts to ensure peace and stability.
