Ankara, April 4, 2026 – The Europe Today: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with Mark Rutte on Saturday, during which the two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, as well as key issues concerning the NATO alliance.

During the call, President Erdoğan highlighted growing concerns over the evolving situation related to Iran, warning that the current trajectory risks leading to a geostrategic deadlock. He urged the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to end ongoing conflicts and prevent further escalation in the region.

The Turkish leader also underscored the importance of strengthening NATO’s collective capacity to respond to emerging global challenges. In this regard, he expressed hope that the upcoming NATO summit, scheduled to be held in Ankara on July 7–8, would result in concrete decisions aimed at enhancing the alliance’s resilience and effectiveness.

The discussion reaffirmed the importance of continued dialogue and coordination among NATO allies to address complex security dynamics and promote stability in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
