Shanghai, November 6, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, attended the 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, where he held a meeting with Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The discussions centered on deepening the long-standing partnership between the two countries across various sectors.
Premier Li Qiang emphasized China’s commitment to translating the general agreements with Uzbekistan into tangible actions that will bring more benefits to both nations. He expressed China’s intention to strengthen cooperation in areas such as culture, education, tourism, and the fight against poverty, areas where both countries see vast potential for growth.
Prime Minister Aripov acknowledged China’s impressive achievements and its increasing global influence, noting that these advancements positively impact people around the world. He underscored Uzbekistan’s firm support for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and highlighted the country’s readiness to enhance practical cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, energy, manufacturing, communications, personnel exchange, transport, and logistics.
“We stand ready to work together with China in all aspects of mutual benefit, and we see the BRI as a vital framework for expanding our economic and cultural ties,” said Mr. Aripov.
Additionally, the two leaders addressed shared concerns regarding regional security, particularly the fight against terrorism, extremism, and separatism. Prime Minister Aripov emphasized Uzbekistan’s commitment to joint efforts with China in combating these threats and strengthening regional security frameworks, particularly within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism.
The meeting underscored both countries’ strong desire to build on their comprehensive partnership and work towards mutual prosperity through enhanced cooperation and shared development goals.
