Baku, November 13, 2024 – The Europe Today: A trilateral meeting took place on November 13 in Baku, bringing together President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan. During this high-level summit, the leaders signed a landmark agreement titled the “Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy,” aimed at promoting regional cooperation in renewable energy, media reports.
The agreement underscores a joint commitment to advancing green energy solutions and facilitating the transmission of sustainable power across their nations. Following the signing, each president delivered remarks emphasizing the critical role of this partnership in bolstering energy security, reducing carbon footprints, and advancing sustainable development across Central Asia and the Caspian region.
An additional signing ceremony followed, marking the launch of the “Implementation Program for Cooperation in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy.” This program involves the energy ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reinforcing a multilateral approach to green energy collaboration. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, joined the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in signing the program, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to supporting sustainable energy initiatives within the region.
Following the ceremonies, the four leaders held extended discussions on the technical and policy aspects of their collaborative efforts. This gathering marked a milestone in regional cooperation on renewable energy, positioning Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan as key players in the global transition to sustainable power.
