Baku, November 14, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan welcomed Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, on November 13 during Mishustin’s visit to Azerbaijan for high-level meetings and participation in the COP29 Climate Action Summit.
In his remarks, President Aliyev expressed gratitude for Russia’s support in hosting the conference in Baku and emphasized the significance of such an event for Azerbaijan. “This is an exceptional event for us, marking the first of this scale in Azerbaijan, and we are pleased to have friendly countries represented at a high level,” Aliyev stated. The President highlighted the importance of regularly reviewing the broad bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Russia despite frequent meetings between Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Prime Minister Mishustin acknowledged Azerbaijan’s exceptional organization of the United Nations climate summit and conveyed greetings and congratulations from President Vladimir Putin. “This conference, being the first of its kind held in the South Caucasus, underscores Azerbaijan’s special role and effort in organizing its complex agenda,” Mishustin remarked. He also praised the discussions and the resulting balanced document from the conference.
The leaders also addressed the robust growth of their bilateral ties, covering a wide range of sectors, including trade, energy, industry, agriculture, culture, and digitalization. Mishustin emphasized the ongoing cooperation and collaborative work between government officials from both countries.
In closing, President Aliyev extended his greetings to President Putin through Mishustin, expressing appreciation for their ongoing partnership and mutual support.
