Stockholm, November 16, 2024 – The Europe Today: In a formal ceremony at the Royal Palace, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Sweden, Olzhas Suleimenov, presented his credentials to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf, as announced by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Ambassador Suleimenov conveyed the warmest regards and best wishes from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Swedish monarch. He underscored the significance of advancing high-level dialogue between the two nations and emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

The Ambassador provided an overview of Kazakhstan’s ongoing political reforms, which he described as marking a transformative phase in the nation’s development. These reforms, he stated, are establishing a robust foundation for further democratic and socio-economic progress.

Ambassador Suleimenov highlighted the untapped potential for trade and economic collaboration between Kazakhstan and Sweden, particularly in areas such as environmental protection, green technologies, high-tech manufacturing and engineering, water and waste management, transport connectivity, as well as information technology and artificial intelligence. Strengthening partnerships in these fields, he noted, would be a key focus of his mission.

The discussion also touched upon pressing international matters, including the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed keen interest in Kazakhstan’s contributions, which include showcasing innovative initiatives in green technologies, renewable energy, and climate adaptation.

Ambassador Suleimenov commended Sweden’s exemplary achievements in sustainable development and the green transition. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s dedication to the global climate agenda, including its pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and its ongoing efforts to restore the Aral Sea.

Concluding the meeting, King Carl XVI Gustaf extended his best wishes to Ambassador Suleimenov in his mission to strengthen ties between Kazakhstan and Sweden.
