Sweden Defeats USA in Extra-End Thriller to Reach Curling World Championship Final

Utah, April 4, 2026 – The Europe Today: Sweden’s men’s curling team secured a dramatic 8–6 victory over the United States in an extra end to advance to the final of the World Men’s Curling Championship.

Led by Niklas Edin, the Swedish side endured a tightly contested semi-final, with both teams trading leads throughout the match. The score was level at 6–6 after the tenth end, forcing an extra end to determine the winner.

Sweden managed to pull ahead, sealing an 8–6 win and booking their place in the final.

Sweden will now face Canada, which defeated Scotland in the other semi-final. Although Canada recently claimed Olympic gold, it is represented by a different lineup at the World Championship.

Team Niklas Edin, already a dominant force in the sport, has won seven World Championship titles to date. The team also demonstrated strong form in this year’s group stage, winning 10 out of 12 matches.

The tournament is being held in Utah, United States, with the final scheduled to take place on Easter Eve at 10:00 PM local time in Sweden.
