Türkiye’s Economic Confidence Hits Eight-Month High in December

Ankara, December 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: Economic confidence in Türkiye reached its highest level in eight months this December, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.

The economic confidence index rose by 1.8 percent compared to November, climbing to 98.8. This uptick represents a notable recovery from the 0.9 percent month-on-month decline recorded in November.

The improvement was driven by gains across most sub-indexes, with the exception of the manufacturing sector, which experienced a 0.7 percent decline to 102.7. The services confidence index saw the largest increase, rising by 2.4 percent to 113.6.

Consumer and construction confidence also rebounded, with both indexes increasing by 1.9 percent to 81.3 and 89.4, respectively. The retail trade confidence index recorded a 1.2 percent increase, reaching 113.0 in December.

The latest figures suggest growing optimism in key sectors, although the overall index remains slightly below the critical 100-point threshold. A confidence index above 100 signifies optimism about the economic outlook, while values below 100 reflect a more cautious or pessimistic perspective.

This positive trend signals a potential recovery in Türkiye’s economic sentiment as the country heads into the new year, bolstered by improved consumer and business confidence.
