Turkmenistan’s President Announces Key Government Appointments in Cabinet Meeting

Ashgabat, February 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov convened an expanded Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, during which several high-level government appointments were announced, as reported by official media.

As part of the reshuffle, the president relieved Mahrijemal Mammedova of her duties as Deputy Prime Minister for Culture and Media and appointed Bahar Seyidova as her successor.

Additionally, Mammetguly Astanagulov was appointed as Minister of Finance and Economy, replacing Serdar Jorayev. In his new role, Astanagulov will also serve as Turkmenistan’s National Coordinator for the European Union’s international technical assistance and as the country’s representative to the World Bank.

The president also made changes at the regional level, relieving Soltanmyrat Soltanmyradov from his position as Governor of Ahal Velayat and appointing Toyguly Nurmyradov as his replacement.

During the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed Turkmenistan’s economic performance for 2024, heard reports from deputy prime ministers and ministry heads, and discussed key socio-economic development priorities and personnel matters.
