Tomaszow Mazowiecki, February 23, 2025 – The Europe Today: China’s Han Mei secured a silver medal in the women’s 1,000m competition at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, on Saturday, while Ning Zhongyan finished third in the men’s 1,000m race.
Han completed the race in 1 minute and 16.31 seconds, adding a silver medal to her 1,500m bronze from Friday. She finished 0.02 seconds ahead of Japan’s Rio Yamada, while Miho Takagi, also from Japan, claimed gold with a time of 1:14.80, marking her fifth consecutive victory in this event.
In the men’s 1,000m, Jordan Stolz from the United States secured gold with a new track record of 1:08.42, ahead of Dutch Olympic champion Kjeld Nuis (1:08.78) and China’s Ning Zhongyan (1:08.84). Stolz’s victory ensured he clinched the World Cup title before the final stop in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.
Elsewhere, Norway’s Sander Eitrem won the men’s 5,000m in 6:16.62, ahead of Italy’s Davide Ghiotto (6:18.29) and the Czech Republic’s Metodej Jilek (6:18.87).
In the women’s 3,000m, Norway’s Ragne Wiklund claimed gold with a time of 4:03.70, followed by Dutch skater Merel Conijn (4:04.59) and Italy’s Francesca Lollobrigida (4:05.32).
The final day of the event will take place on Sunday at Arena Lodowa in Tomaszow Mazowiecki.
