Baku, February 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to establish the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex in the city of Khojaly. The memorial complex aims to raise international awareness of the genocide committed against the Azerbaijani people and to honor the memory of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy.
In accordance with the presidential decree, a total of 18.3 million manats has been allocated to the Ministry of Culture for the development of the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex.
The Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the Special Representative Office of the President in the city of Khankendi, and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, has been tasked with implementing the necessary measures for the establishment of the memorial complex.
Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers has been assigned to address any issues that may arise in the course of the project’s implementation. The establishment of the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to preserving historical memory and ensuring global recognition of the Khojaly tragedy.
