First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Meets Chairwoman of Russian Federation Council

Baku, March 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva held a meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, during her visit to Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the Russian delegation, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence that Matviyenko’s visit would further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. She underscored the significance of ongoing cooperation in various fields and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Russia.

Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko, in turn, conveyed her gratitude to the First Vice-President for the warm reception and hospitality. She emphasized the crucial role of inter-parliamentary engagement in advancing the bilateral relations between the two nations. Matviyenko also highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits by parliamentary delegations in deepening the friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strategic nature of Azerbaijan-Russia relations and exchanged views on expanding cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
