Texas, April 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: A powerful storm system sweeping across large parts of the U.S. South and Midwest has led to at least 16 weather-related deaths by early Sunday, with further warnings of severe weather, including tornadoes and flash floods. Forecasters caution that rising waterways could continue to pose a significant threat for days to come.
The impacted regions have been battered by severe storms for several days, with the storms spawning deadly tornadoes and causing widespread damage. Over the weekend, new tornado warnings were issued overnight for Alabama and Mississippi, while flash flood warnings were in effect for multiple counties in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Saturday saw more torrential rain and flash flooding, exacerbating the already precarious situation in the central U.S. Waterways quickly swelled to dangerous levels, prompting emergencies across the affected areas, from Texas to Ohio.
Since the onset of the storm system, 16 deaths have been reported, with Tennessee bearing the heaviest toll, accounting for 10 of the fatalities. Emergency responders are working tirelessly to address the ongoing crisis as floodwaters continue to rise, and the threat of additional severe weather remains high.
