Paris, April 19, 2025 – The Europe Today: Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al Jalajel has wrapped up a successful three-day official visit to France, which included engagements in Paris and Lyon. During the visit, Al Jalajel held a series of high-level meetings with French officials, including ministers, senior health sector representatives, and leaders from the business community.
A significant outcome of the visit was the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs), aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France in areas such as healthcare innovation, medical research, and the training of healthcare professionals.
In Lyon, the Minister met with Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass, the Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The two discussed opportunities to advance collaboration in cancer research and global health initiatives. The talks highlighted IARC’s ongoing research programs and the potential for joint scientific and technical partnerships to address pressing cancer-related challenges.
Additionally, the Saudi delegation visited the World Health Organization Academy (WHO Academy) in Lyon, where they explored strategic approaches to healthcare professional training. The discussions focused on equipping future healthcare workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the sector.
Al Jalajel’s visit underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in healthcare, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader goals under Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of health services and foster global collaboration in the medical field.
