Nicosia, March 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: France plans to send anti-missile and anti-drone defense systems to Cyprus after a British air base on the island was targeted in a drone attack, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported on Tuesday.

According to CNA, the French government will dispatch advanced anti-missile and counter-drone systems to bolster Cyprus’ air defenses. In addition, France is expected to deploy a naval frigate to the region as part of the reinforcement measures.

The report stated that French President Emmanuel Macron conveyed the decision to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides during a communication early Tuesday.

The move follows a drone attack on a British air base located on the island, raising concerns over regional security and prompting heightened defense cooperation.
