Baku, May 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, held a meeting with a delegation led by the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, Yaşar Güler, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, according to a statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.
As part of the official program, the Turkish delegation visited several significant sites in Baku to pay tribute to the memory of prominent national figures and martyrs. The delegation laid wreaths and flowers at the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and distinguished ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honors. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, where they honored the memory of fallen heroes. In addition, Minister Yaşar Güler laid a wreath at the Victory Monument during a visit to Victory Park.
The official welcoming ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. Following the ceremonial guard of honor, the national anthems of both countries were performed, and Minister Güler signed the Book of Honor in accordance with protocol.
In their bilateral meeting, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov expressed satisfaction in hosting his Turkish counterpart and underscored the positive trajectory of defense and security cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. He emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership, which continues to deepen across various areas of mutual interest.
Minister Yaşar Güler conveyed his appreciation for the warm reception and stressed the importance of high-level exchanges in further advancing the strong Azerbaijani-Turkish military ties. Both sides exchanged views on regional security issues and discussed prospects for continued collaboration in the defense sector.
The visit reaffirms the enduring brotherhood and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, particularly in the realm of defense and military cooperation.
