Tashkent, May 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Türkiye, led by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, on May 15 to discuss the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Vice President Yılmaz conveyed the sincere greetings and warm wishes of President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to President Mirziyoyev, reaffirming the strong ties of friendship and mutual respect that underpin Uzbekistan–Türkiye relations.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economic, and investment fields. It was noted that frequent high-level exchanges, increasing trade turnover, growing volumes of mutual investment, the rise in joint ventures, and enhanced air connectivity reflect the deepening engagement between the two nations.
President Mirziyoyev and Vice President Yılmaz praised the successful outcomes of the recent Intergovernmental Commission meeting, the Uzbekistan–Türkiye Business Dialogue, and the economic exhibition held in Tashkent, calling them important milestones in bilateral relations.
The two sides stressed the importance of taking coordinated measures to increase bilateral trade, including expanding the variety of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement. They also emphasized the need to intensify collaboration on joint projects in key sectors such as innovation, energy, industry, pharmaceuticals, textiles, tourism, and education.
Discussions also covered the formation of a new portfolio of cooperative initiatives and the launch of a cultural and humanitarian exchange program aimed at fostering deeper people-to-people ties.
Special attention was devoted to preparing the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which is expected to further consolidate the long-term partnership between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
