Turkish Foreign Minister Meets Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade

Belgrade, May 20, 2025 — The Europe Today: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a high-level meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Monday during his official visit to Belgrade, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced.

Following the meeting, President Vucic took to social media to express his satisfaction with hosting the Turkish foreign minister, underlining the importance that Serbia places on its bilateral ties with Türkiye. He described the relationship as one marked by active political dialogue and broad cooperation in diverse fields such as the economy, energy, tourism, culture, and education.

“Serbia attaches special importance to its relations with Türkiye, which remains a key player in regional stability,” Vucic stated. He also welcomed Türkiye’s commitment to participate in the 2027 World Expo in Belgrade, calling it a clear sign of the strong partnership and mutual trust between the two nations.

In addition to the presidential meeting, Minister Fidan also held talks with his Serbian counterpart, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric. Later, at the Turkish Embassy in Belgrade, Fidan met with prominent Serbian political figures, including Rasim Ljajic, Chairperson of the Social Democratic Party; Usame Zukorlic, Chairperson of the Justice and Reconciliation Party and Minister for Reconciliation, Regional Cooperation, and Social Stability; and Ahmedin Skrijelj, a Member of Parliament representing the Party of Democratic Action of Sandzak from Novi Pazar.

The visit reflects the growing momentum in Turkish-Serbian relations and underscores both nations’ commitment to fostering regional peace, cooperation, and development.
