President Prabowo Confident in Indonesia’s Role as Global Energy Supplier

Jakarta, May 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto has voiced strong confidence in Indonesia’s potential to emerge as a key global energy supplier, citing the country’s vast and largely untapped energy reserves.

Speaking at the 49th Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition (IPA Convex) in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday, the President emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the government, private sector, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to enhance domestic oil and gas production.

“We are very optimistic that we will not only achieve energy self-sufficiency soon, but also supply energy to the world again,” President Prabowo stated.

He highlighted Indonesia’s substantial energy reserves, noting that dozens of oil and gas blocks are ready to be offered to both domestic and international investors. The President also called for the creation of a regulatory and bureaucratic environment that facilitates, rather than hinders, investment and business operations in the energy sector.

In his remarks, President Prabowo pointed to the readiness of the Indonesian Investment Management Agency, Danantara, to support strategic projects in oil and gas. “I encourage all parties from inside the country and abroad to use the opportunities that we offer, and we have also prepared a large investment fund,” he said.

The IPA Convex, held from May 20 to 22 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Tangerang, is a premier annual event organized by the Indonesian Petroleum Association. The 2025 edition has attracted delegates from over 60 countries, including top executives from leading global energy firms and ambassadors from various nations, such as Egypt and Malaysia.

The convention aims to promote collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development within the energy sector while showcasing Indonesia’s growing prominence as a key player in the global energy landscape.
