Türkiye Condemns Israel’s Blockade of Gaza-Bound Aid Ship Madleen as Violation of International Law

Ankara, June 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israel’s refusal to allow the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid ship Madleen to dock, calling the incident a clear violation of international law and an act of aggression against civilians.

In an official statement released Monday, the ministry reported that the intervention occurred in international waters and involved a civilian vessel carrying humanitarian aid and Turkish citizens.

“This heinous act by the Netanyahu government, which threatens the freedom of navigation and maritime security, once again demonstrates that Israel is acting as a terror state,” the statement read.

The ministry emphasized that Israel’s ongoing blockade and the use of hunger as a weapon in Gaza constitute genocidal policies, and urged the international community to respond decisively.

Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Director, Fahrettin Altun, also condemned the Israeli action in a statement on social media platform X, saying:

“The Zionist Israeli administration has once again demonstrated its intolerance for even basic humanitarian aid reaching Gaza. This despicable attack on civilian ship Madleen is further proof of a terrorist state that recognizes no moral or legal boundaries.”

Altun added that Israel’s actions threaten regional peace and global security, and that the world must act decisively:

“Silence in the face of these crimes amounts to complicity. We urge the international community to take concrete steps to halt Israeli brutality and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

He concluded by urging for the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the region, reiterating Türkiye’s firm stance on supporting human dignity and universal principles.
