Ankara, June 15, 2025 — The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday to address the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, and to discuss broader regional and international issues, Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications confirmed.
During the conversation, President Erdoğan sharply criticised Israel’s recent strike on Iranian territory, describing Israel under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the “biggest threat to regional stability and security.”
He said the Israeli attack, carried out amid sensitive nuclear reconciliation talks between Iran and the United States, was an intentional move to derail peace efforts and had caused dangerous nuclear leaks, posing a broader threat to global security.
“The international community is turning a blind eye to the ongoing occupation and genocide in Palestine,” Erdoğan stated, blaming global silence for emboldening Israel’s ‘lawless and aggressive’ actions.
He further cautioned that the Middle East cannot endure another full-scale crisis, warning that continued escalation could spark mass migration waves and deepen humanitarian suffering across the region. He reiterated the need for diplomatic solutions and sustained negotiations, particularly on nuclear issues.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace, cooperation, and coordinated diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and avoid further instability. The call comes amid heightened concerns of a broader conflict in the region, as international actors urge restraint and renewed dialogue.
