Jeddah, July 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) have jointly called on the international community to take concrete and immediate steps to end the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The strong appeal was delivered through a joint statement issued following a high-level meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday, July 2.
In their declaration, the two leaders expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in Gaza and reaffirmed their nations’ unwavering commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. They urged the international community to urgently act to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population and unequivocally condemned the use of blockades and starvation as methods of warfare. The statement also rejected all forms of forced displacement of Palestinians, both within and outside their homeland.
“Achieving lasting security and stability in Palestine can only be realized through the implementation of relevant international resolutions, including the two-state solution, and by ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people — particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the joint communiqué stated.
President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman further emphasized the importance of sustaining the recently announced ceasefire in the region, expressing hope that it would pave the way for broader peace efforts.
Shared Vision for Regional Peace
Beyond Gaza, the two leaders underscored the urgent need to promote lasting peace and stability throughout the broader Middle East. The statement reflected a shared vision on various regional and global challenges, reaffirming Indonesia’s and Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening coordination and actively contributing to international peace and security.
Regarding the situation in Yemen, both leaders reaffirmed their full support for a peaceful political resolution and endorsed ongoing efforts to maintain stability in the Red Sea region.
The joint statement also welcomed the recent lifting of sanctions on Syria by the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. This development was hailed as a positive step toward reconstruction, regional recovery, and the voluntary return of refugees.
On the conflict in Sudan, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for continued engagement in peaceful dialogue under the framework of the Jeddah Forum to reach a full ceasefire and bring an end to the humanitarian crisis.
The high-level discussions between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia marked a reaffirmation of both nations’ roles as active proponents of peace and humanitarian responsibility in the face of ongoing global conflicts.
