King Mohammed VI Reaffirms Strategic Morocco–France Ties in National Day Message to Macron

Rabat, July 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: His Majesty King Mohammed VI has reaffirmed the enduring strength and strategic depth of relations between Morocco and France in a message addressed to French President Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of France’s National Day.

In his congratulatory letter, the monarch extended warm felicitations to President Macron, expressing his best wishes for prosperity and continued progress for the French people.

“Having expressed the wish to build a future based on solidarity, our two countries are today working, as they have at every decisive stage in their shared history, to redefine the course of their cooperation to better meet the demands of the moment,” King Mohammed VI wrote.

The monarch emphasized that the exceptional and strengthened relationship between Rabat and Paris stands as a testament to the shared resolve to elevate their long-term strategic partnership.

Morocco and France opened a new chapter of bilateral cooperation during President Macron’s state visit to Morocco last year, a visit marked by France’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.

The visit also resulted in the signing of 22 cooperation agreements covering a broad range of sectors, including transport, energy, and culture, underscoring the two countries’ commitment to expanding their collaboration across key areas of mutual interest.

According to official French data, Morocco is France’s 19th-largest global trading partner, 17th-largest customer, and 39th in terms of trade deficit. Within the MENA region, Morocco stands as France’s top customer and top supplier, accounting for 20.2% of French exports in the region.

The message by King Mohammed VI further reinforces the long-standing diplomatic, economic, and cultural bonds between the two nations and affirms Morocco’s commitment to advancing its partnership with France in the spirit of mutual respect and strategic cooperation.
