Indonesia Showcases Promising Creative Economy Talent at ‘The Local Market’ Exhibition in Jakarta

Jakarta, July 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia has lauded the collective enthusiasm and innovation demonstrated by local creative economy players in promoting and developing homegrown products, as seen at The Local Market exhibition held in Jakarta on Saturday.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Irene Umar, during her visit to the exhibition, praised the diverse and high-quality creative works presented, which she described as showcasing “some of the most promising intellectual property (IP) seeds in Indonesia.”

“These booths are not simply selling products — they are telling stories, shaping identities, and designing with meaning. Whether it’s clothing, food, or crafts, every participant is building a brand and a character,” she said.

The event, themed Langit Lokal (Local Sky), brought together 140 creative economy participants from across the archipelago, each presenting flagship products that reflect Indonesian culture, sustainability, and innovation.

Deputy Minister Irene expressed hope that such collective events would be replicated in other regions to widen opportunities for creative entrepreneurs to promote their products and ideas. She emphasized the potential of the creative economy to become a key engine of economic growth for Indonesia.

“The energy and creativity we see here should become a movement. When we empower our creative talents and promote their intellectual property, we are not just growing the economy — we are telling the world who we are,” she said.

The Ministry is actively supporting this movement through initiatives such as Ekraf Hunt, a dedicated platform that allows creative economy players to showcase their intellectual property and expand their reach to global audiences. Irene encouraged creators to register their works through the official website: hunt.ekraf.go.id.

Accompanying the Deputy Minister at the exhibition were Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan, Director of Architecture and Design at the Ministry, and Titonius Karto, founder of The Local Market.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to nurturing and promoting Indonesia’s creative economy through collaboration, innovation, and the protection of local intellectual property — key components for sustaining national cultural identity and driving inclusive economic development.
