Washington D.C., July 24, 2025 – The Europe Today: World No. 12 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan began her 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open women’s singles campaign with a commanding performance, securing a straight-sets victory on Wednesday night to book her place in the tournament’s quarterfinals, Sports.kz reported.
Rybakina defeated Canada’s Victoria Mboko, ranked 88th in the world, with a 6-3, 7-5 win in the second round of the prestigious WTA event held in the U.S. capital.
The 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open boasts a prize pool of over USD 1.2 million, with the WTA singles champion set to receive USD 197,570 along with 500 ranking points.
Earlier in the tournament, Rybakina also advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s doubles competition, continuing a strong showing in both formats at the Washington D.C. event.
