Cairo, August 4, 2025 – The Europe Today: On the evening of August 3, State President of Vietnam, Lương Cường, held a working session with Vietnamese Ambassadors to African countries in Cairo as part of his official state visit to Egypt. The meeting underscored Vietnam’s commitment to deepening ties with African nations and emphasized Africa’s growing global importance.

According to a report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Africa is projected to become a major global growth pole in the coming decades, offering vast potential for expanded cooperation and strategic engagement. Vietnam currently maintains eight diplomatic missions covering 55 African countries—reflecting the country’s proactive foreign policy toward the continent.

President Lương Cường commended the ambassadors and diplomatic staff for their dedication, responsibility, and resilience in navigating complex working environments, diverse cultures, and challenging conditions marked by regional conflicts and public health crises. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Africa to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations and enhancing Vietnam’s international standing.

The ambassadors reported on regional dynamics, the state of Vietnam’s relations with host countries, and the challenges their missions face. They also offered practical proposals to enhance cooperation with African partners and reaffirmed their full support for the foreign policies of the Party and State. The diplomats pledged to uphold their responsibilities and work tirelessly to consolidate ties with African countries and fulfill their duties with excellence.

In his remarks, President Cường extended warm greetings from the Party and State leadership and expressed appreciation for the ambassadors’ efforts to attend the meeting despite being stationed in distant and diverse regions. He lauded the embassies’ achievements and highlighted the visible progress made in Vietnam’s relations with Middle Eastern and African nations, including high-level exchanges and expanding areas of cooperation.

The President emphasized that his current visit to Egypt—along with recent official visits to Senegal and Morocco by National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn—sent a strong signal of Vietnam’s intent to elevate traditional friendships and usher in a new era of strategic partnership with African countries.

President Cường called on the ambassadors to continuously align their work with the Party’s foreign policy, particularly the Politburo’s Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context. He urged the diplomats to intensify strategic research and timely reporting to enable Vietnam to proactively respond to fast-changing global and regional developments.

Underscoring the historical bonds of solidarity between Vietnam and African nations during the struggle for national liberation, the President emphasized the importance of fostering political trust as a cornerstone for expanding cooperation in economic, cultural, and other fields. He urged embassies to enhance community outreach, strengthen citizen protection efforts, support overseas Vietnamese communities, and collaborate closely with local authorities to protect Vietnamese nationals and promote business interests.

President Cường also stressed the need for unity, professionalism, and ethical conduct among diplomatic staff, encouraging them to persevere in overcoming challenges and to fulfill their political duties with responsibility and determination.

The meeting reaffirmed Vietnam’s strategic orientation toward Africa as a region of opportunity and partnership, and it served as a platform to further galvanize efforts in advancing Vietnam-Africa relations into a dynamic and mutually beneficial future.
