Ganja, August 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on August 20 took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a basalt products manufacturing facility of “Azerbazalt” LLC in the city of Ganja.
During the ceremony, the head of state and the First Lady were briefed on the project, which will be developed in two phases. The plant will initially focus on producing basalt powder and organic fertilizers derived from it. The first phase, requiring an investment of 27 million manat, will cover 4 hectares and is expected to yield 360,000 tons of organic fertilizers annually.
The Azerbaijan Business Development Fund, operating under the Ministry of Economy, holds a 30 percent stake in the project. Technologies from Sweden and Türkiye will be employed, while raw materials will be supplied from the high-quality basalt reserves of the “Chaykand” deposit in Goygol District. The first phase will provide permanent employment for 200 people.
In the second phase, the facility will diversify into producing high-tech and innovative products, including basalt fiber, filament for 3D printers, and other advanced industrial materials. This phase will enhance the strategic value of the project, contributing to Azerbaijan’s defense, construction, and high-tech sectors, while creating an additional 300 jobs.
The facility’s products are expected to meet domestic demand and supply international markets, positioning Azerbaijan as a key player in the sustainable production of industrial and technological materials.
