Baku, August 22, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev declared that the initialing of the peace agreement with Armenia effectively ends the decades-long Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. He made the remarks during a meeting with residents of Kalbajar city.
“We are also the authors of the peace agreement with Armenia, and our position has always served as the basis for drafting those clauses. The fact that this document has been initialed actually puts an end to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict,” Aliyev stated.
The president further highlighted the strategic importance of securing an overland connection with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which he described as Azerbaijan’s historical homeland.
“At the same time, an overland connection with our historical homeland of Nakhchivan has also been secured,” Aliyev said.
