Ankara, October 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla on Wednesday, which was en route to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. The Turkish Foreign Ministry described the incident as a “terrorist act” endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
In an official statement, the Ministry said: “This attack, which targeted civilians acting peacefully without resorting to violence, is proof that the fascist and militarist policies implemented by the genocidal Netanyahu government, which has condemned Gaza to famine, are not limited to Palestinians but target everyone who struggles against the oppression imposed by Israel.”
The statement confirmed that coordination has been maintained with other countries whose citizens were part of the fleet, and that all necessary measures are being taken to secure the immediate release of Turkish citizens and other passengers detained by Israeli forces. It further expressed hope that the attack would not undermine efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, and announced that legal action will be pursued to hold those responsible accountable.
The Ministry called on the United Nations and relevant international organizations to take immediate steps to lift the blockade on Gaza, allow humanitarian aid to reach the region, and ensure freedom of navigation.
High-ranking Turkish officials also condemned the attack. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz stated: “Israel’s unlawful and barbaric attack on the Sumud Fleet in international waters is unacceptable. I condemn this assault on the collective conscience of humanity.”
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus described the attack as “a clear violation of international law and a crime,” while Communications Director Burhanettin Duran called Israel’s intervention a “dark stain” in history.
