Gabala, October 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan, in Gabala on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the head of state. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and kindly requested that his own regards be conveyed to the President of Turkmenistan.
During the conversation, the two sides fondly recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s previous meetings with Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, including his visit to Azerbaijan in July of this year. They emphasized the significance of the upcoming 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), to be held in Gabala, highlighting its importance in further strengthening cooperation among Turkic nations and fostering closer people-to-people ties.
Both leaders expressed high appreciation for the current level of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan interstate relations, which are founded on principles of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and mutual cooperation. They noted that the deep fraternal bonds between the peoples of the two countries continue to underpin the successful expansion of bilateral relations across various sectors — including politics, economy, transport, energy, parliamentarianism, humanitarian affairs, culture, and education — as well as within international organizations.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the prospects for further enhancing the comprehensive partnership and advancing bilateral cooperation in the spirit of mutual trust and friendship.
