Beijing, December 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for a state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking his fourth state visit to China. The trip serves as a reciprocal gesture following Xi’s historic state visit to France last year, which commemorated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China–France diplomatic relations, according to media reports.
During Macron’s visit, President Xi will hold official talks with the French leader to provide strategic guidance for the future development of China–France relations under current global and regional circumstances. The two presidents are also expected to conduct in-depth discussions on major international and regional hotspot issues.
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Beijing is prepared to work closely with Paris to use this visit as an opportunity to uphold the spirit that laid the foundation of bilateral diplomatic ties. The spokesperson emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening strategic communication with France, deepening practical cooperation across key sectors, and advancing coordination in multilateral forums.
The spokesperson added that both sides aim to achieve new progress in their comprehensive strategic partnership, support the sound and stable development of China–EU relations, and jointly contribute to multilateralism and a peaceful, stable, and prosperous world.
Macron’s visit underscores the continued importance of China–France cooperation amid a rapidly evolving global landscape, with both countries seeking to reinforce dialogue and expand bilateral engagement in the years ahead.
