Hanoi, December 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: Việtnam received 19.15 million international visitors in the first 11 months of 2025, marking a 20.9% increase compared to the same period last year and surpassing its pre-pandemic record of more than 18 million arrivals, according to official data released on Saturday.
In November alone, the country welcomed 1.98 million foreign tourists, up 14.2% from October and 15.6% year-on-year. This made November the third-strongest month of 2025, following January and March, both of which recorded over two million arrivals.
The UN Tourism agency highlighted Việtnam’s performance as one of the most remarkable global tourism recoveries. While tourism in the Asia–Pacific region has rebounded to about 90% of pre-Covid levels, Việtnam stands out among a select group of destinations — alongside Japan — that have achieved rapid and sustained growth.
According to a regional breakdown by the National Statistics Office, Asia remained Việtnam’s largest source of visitors in 2025, contributing 15.10 million arrivals, up 19.7% year-on-year. European arrivals surged by 37.8% to 2.46 million, recording the fastest growth among all regions. The Americas sent 993,700 visitors, up 9.4%, while Oceania arrivals rose 13.6% to 549,800. Visitors from Africa increased 9% to 51,200.
China retained its position as Việtnam’s largest tourism market, sending nearly 4.8 million visitors — roughly one quarter of all foreign arrivals. South Korea followed with more than 3.9 million tourists. Taiwan (China), the United States, and Japan rounded out the top five, while India, Cambodia, Russia, Malaysia, and Australia completed the top ten.
Arrivals from China saw a strong rebound with a 43.1% year-on-year increase. European markets experienced significant growth, boosted by relaxed visa policies. Russian arrivals recorded an especially sharp rise of 191%, reaching 593,000 visitors in the January–November period.
Air travel remained the dominant mode of entry, accounting for 84.5% of international arrivals, equivalent to 16.2 million passengers. Land arrivals reached 2.7 million, up 22.2%, while sea arrivals increased 3.4% to 228,800.
The sharp rise in tourist numbers contributed to higher service-sector revenues. Travel service revenue for the first 11 months of 2025 was estimated at VNĐ85.4 trillion (about US$3.2 billion), reflecting a 19.9% increase from a year earlier. Major destinations recorded double-digit growth, including Hà Nội (23.4%), HCM City (22.3%), Quảng Ninh (18.2%), Vĩnh Long (14.1%), and Đà Nẵng (13.2%).
Accommodation and food-service revenue also expanded, rising 14.6% to VNĐ767.8 trillion, supported by both strong domestic tourism and the return of long-haul international visitors.
Việtnam aims to attract between 23 million and 25 million foreign tourists in 2025, maintaining its trajectory as one of the region’s fastest-growing travel destinations.
