World Leaders Congratulate Việtnam’s Newly Elected Leadership

Hanoi, April 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: Leaders of several countries and political parties have extended congratulatory messages to Việtnam’s newly elected leadership following recent elections by the National Assembly, reaffirming support for enhanced bilateral ties and international cooperation.

The messages were sent on the occasion of Tô Lâm being elected State President, Lê Minh Hưng as Prime Minister, and Trần Thanh Mẫn as Chairman of the National Assembly.

Among the first to convey congratulations was Miguel Díaz-Canel, who reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam.

Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, highlighted that Tô Lâm’s election reflects the strong trust of the Vietnamese people, expressing confidence that bilateral ties between the two nations would continue to deepen.

From the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Việt Nam, emphasizing cooperation in economic development, people-to-people exchanges, and maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko also conveyed his congratulations, noting that the Việt Nam–Belarus Strategic Partnership has expanded significantly in scope and quality. He expressed optimism that ties would continue to strengthen under the new leadership.

Additional messages were received from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who described Việt Nam as a key partner in Asia, and Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, who commended the country’s growing regional influence and economic development.

Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral and Parliament Speaker Sandag Byambatsogt also extended their congratulations, highlighting the importance of legislative and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Leaders from Palestine and Nicaragua, including Mahmoud Abbas, Daniel Ortega, and Rosario Murillo, also sent messages of goodwill, expressing support for Việt Nam’s continued development and international engagement.

Separately, senior officials from Laos and Cambodia conveyed congratulations to Lê Hoài Trung on his continued appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The wave of congratulatory messages underscores the international community’s recognition of Việt Nam’s political stability and growing global role, as well as the expectation of strengthened partnerships under its new leadership.
